About I Wonder What’s Next

Welcome to I Wonder What’s Next – your online home for short-dated and past best-before food, drink, pet and household bargains across the UK. We specialise in big-brand products at small prices, helping you stretch your budget and reduce unnecessary waste.

Who we are

We’re an independent UK-based clearance retailer based in Cannock, Staffordshire. Our job is simple:

  • Rescue surplus, short-dated and past best-before stock
  • Make it affordable for everyday shoppers
  • Be completely transparent about dates, pack sizes and savings

Whether you’re feeding a family, stocking up the office, or just love a bargain, we’re here to bring you out-of-this-world deals on the brands you already know and love.

What we sell

Our range changes constantly as new surplus stock arrives, but you’ll usually find:

  • Short-dated and past best-before food & drink
  • Protein bars, sports nutrition and meal replacements
  • Everyday grocery case deals and bulk buys
  • Coffee, tea & hot chocolate for home or office
  • Sweets, chocolate, crisps & snacks
  • Pet food, treats & accessories
  • Cleaning products, homewares & seasonal items

Everything is clearly priced, with the original RRP (recommended retail price) also highlighted so you can see the savings you can expect to make.

Short-dated & past best-before – what does it mean?

  • Short-dated – a product is approaching its best-before date.
  • Past best-before – the date has passed, but the food is generally still safe to eat as long as it’s been stored correctly and still looks, smells and tastes as expected.

In the UK, best-before (BBE) dates are about quality, not safety. Many items – especially ambient, tinned, dried and confectionery products – are still perfectly fine after this date when stored correctly.

Use-by dates are different: they are about safety and must never be ignored.

How we show dates & savings

We’re completely transparent about product dates:

  • Best-before dates are shown on each relevant product page under the title (red box), in the description, and throughout the checkout process.
  • If an item is past its best-before date, this is clearly highlighted so you can decide if it’s right for you.
  • We never sell anything past its use-by date.
  • Many non-food, pet, cleaning and household products are reduced because they’re clearance or overstock (and are often long-dated).

Helping to tackle food waste

Buying short-dated and past best-before stock is a simple way to:

  • Save money on the products you already enjoy
  • Help stop perfectly good food and goods going to landfill
  • Support a small UK business focused on value and reducing waste

Every order – big or small – helps reduce waste and makes everyday essentials more affordable.

FAQs

Is it safe to buy past best-before products?

Best-before dates are about quality, not safety. Many foods remain fine after the date if stored correctly, though taste or texture may gradually decline. We always recommend:

  • Following on-pack storage instructions
  • Checking how the product looks, smells and tastes
  • Using your own judgement and only consuming if you’re happy

Is it legal to sell past best-before food in the UK?

Yes. Retailers may sell food past its best-before date if it’s still of good quality and clearly described.

It is not legal to sell food past its use-by date, and it should never be eaten once that date has passed. We never sell products past their use-by date.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver across the UK using trusted couriers. Delivery options, prices and any minimum spends are shown at checkout before you pay.

How do I know what the dates are?

For every relevant item, the best-before date is clearly shown:

  • Under the product title (red box)
  • In the description
  • On your order confirmation email

If an item is past best-before, we state this clearly so you can make an informed choice.

Best-Before vs Use-By (Quick Guide)

Best-before (BBE) is about quality – food is generally safe to eat after this date but may not be at its very best, provided it has been stored correctly.

Use-by is about safety – you should never eat food after its use-by date.
